Q: Does an Audi a6 2001 Quattro have transmission fluid to fill?
If there is a reservoir for it where is and if they don't have one why don't they need one? it is automatic and can be manual also how do u no if u need the shop to fill it up

A: the transmission is sealed off so you cant change the fluid they put lifetime fluid in there so the transmission will go bad before the fluid does theoretical but you can add some and change it there is a plug underneath the car and there are places like audidiy.com that will give you a diy guide on how to do it. P.S. just because you have tiptronic doesn't mean its both automatic and manual you have an automatic car don't say it can be both

Q: Audi A6 quattro 2.7 Brake Problems.?
the old brakes on my 2000 audi a6 quattro 2.7 were shot, so i got brand new rotors and pads for the rear and the front. everything seemed to fit and go on fine. but when i started to pull out of the driveway it wouldn't move, i gave it a little bit of gas and it moved but very stubbornly and kind of grinding on the back brakes. it seemed like the parking brake was on the whole time. im not sure what i could have done wrong. any help or any ideas would be great. thanks.

A: the rear calipers have to be twisted as you compress them if you did not twist them you could have damaged the calipers. Also make sure the e brake cables are hooked up correctly and that the assembly moves freely. If you do not use the E-brake on these cars they do tend to freeze up.

Q: 1999 Audi A6 Quattro Transmission ECU problems?
I have a 99 A6 Quattro. About a month ago it would sporadically start running in what seems to be third gear. This happened off and on. Sometimes it would start up normally, other times it appeared to run in "default" and wouldn't leave third gear. I can tell that it's doing this because all of the gear lights are "solid" color on the dash display. Anyway, I took it to a tranny shop and they said there were no mechanical transmission issues; it appears to be computer related. If I disconnect the battery, sometimes the problem seems to go away for awhile. Any suggestions on what to do, short of replacing the whole computer? This is a frustrating and dangerous problem...I'm nervous to drive the car...for obvious reasons. But, diagnostics on this car is EXPENSIVE as well...only Audi can pull the transmission codes....$110 bucks an hour!! Thanks in advance.

A: You need to get it scanned to see what the fault is in the transmission control module. Its a sporadic problem, so it works fine sometimes, but when it acts up, it sets the fault again, illuminates the gear display, and puts the transmission into limp mode. Could be something like the gear recognition signal. But first you need to see what fault it is storing.

Q: Can someone tell me how I can refill the freon gas in my 1999 Audi A6 quattro?

A: Not sure where you're located but you can go to your local AutoZone. They have R-134a kits with two can's and a valve for around $40 including a $10 rebate. I've personally used the kit myself and it's very easy to use.

Q: Questions & repair costs for 1998 Audi A6 quattro?
I'm in search of a car to buy, and I've got several questions about this particular car. I'm not experienced at all with cars as I'm looking for my first car, and I have found this car, a 1998 Audi A6 Quattro, and want do you guys think about this car/company? Also, the seller of this car says that it needs to have it's transmission rebuilt, the front passenger side widow regulator replaced, cruise control is sort of messed up (not really worried about this one) and the EGR valves/solenoids needs work/cleaning, and possibly a short somewhere in the stereo system He has the car up for about $3,000 or so, and would you think that it would be worth it to buy this car, and fix it up while being under ~6-6.5k? Thanks, Chris D I also forgot to say that this car has 138,076 miles, which I realized might help some of your guys.

A: I own a 1998 Audi A6 Quattro and bought mine with 54,000 Miles for $12,000, good deal huh. Anyways you should probably stay away from buying it for the fact that you could get a better one for about 10,000 from the year ranges of 1999 to 2000.

Q: where can i buy springs for my 1998 audi a6 quattro 2.8?

Q: does anyone know what size battery a 1995 audi a6 quattro key would take

A: blade keys take two CR1620 batteries.

Q: Does anyone know how to fix the turn signals of a 1999 audi a6 quattro?
I just bought a 1999 audi a6 quattro with about 117000 miles and realized that the turn signals barely work. When i try to use them, they light up alright but they dont blink at all. I am kinda confused, is this normal for all audis? If anyone has had this problem or know how to fix it, can you let me know because i would rather fix it myself than take it to a dealer? Speaking of dealers anyone have an idea how much it would cost to fix that problem?

A: The relay is built into the emergency flasher switch. Part number is 4B0 941 509D B98 dealer list is $32.00. This kind of thing happens on any car not just AUDI.

Q: Recall Services on a 1998 Audi A6 Quattro?
Out of all the Recalls on this car, I have only gotten one letter for one of them. What should I do to make sure everything gets fixed!?!?

A: If you haven't received all of your recalls, you can call the service department of your local Audi dealership to make an appointment and bring your car in...When you are there, they can look up your VIN# to verify whether your vehicle is in the range of the recalls or not... Most dealers will tell you that they don't need the actual recall notice because of their ability to search your VIN, so just make an appointment

Q: Is there a way to close the rear power window manually. I have an Audi A6 Quattro.?

A: I'd like to do the same thing to one of the side windows on my 1995 Mitsubishi Diamante wagon. I've searched www.cartalk.com but came up with nothing useful. The search engine on this site isn't very good, so it's hard to find anything. This article is somewhat related, but not so useful: http://www.cartalk.com/content/columns/Archive/2000/January/03.html A Google search revealed so more useful hits: http://groups.google.com/group/alt.autos.bmw/browse_thread/thread/abec36e42f287bb6/48c3d35fe81f4431%2348c3d35fe81f4431 And this: http://groups.google.com/group/alt.autos.rod-n-custom/browse_thread/thread/8171db28d3791b63/cd2bc7b8021243ee%23cd2bc7b8021243ee Neither of the above offer much encouragement, but I decided to try removing the inside panel of the door to see if maybe I could push the window up. The panel came off pretty easily -- 5 screws -- but so far I haven't been able to get the window to move up more than about a centimeter. 5 more cm to go and it's closed.... I'll update this answer if I learn anything useful. In the meantime, if you learn something useful that's not Audi-specific, I'd really appreciate it if you'd let me know either by posting it here or by sending me a message. Thanks in advance, CDF

Q: Lexus ES 350 vs. Audi A6 Quattro?
i recently found a used lexus ES 350 and A6 around the same price. i need some help deciding which car to get. i guess the pros for lexus is reliablitiy and resale value. and for A6, its a better car and its quattro :) but i heard that german cars have high insurance rate, low resale value, and high maintance cost. any suggestions?

A: yes audi costs a fortune to maintain & repair loads of fun though but with global warming u won't need all wheel drive the lexus brand is seen as a ladies' brand (sorry) to the upper crust due to it's lack to performance...suspension, rim size, engine rpm acceleration curve, etc... both fun

Q: Can an Audi A6 quattro tow a 17 foot fiberglass boat?
I am buying a new car .. I want it to be good in the winter (live in northeast), safe, decent gas mileage, and hopefully tow a 17' boat during the summer. The A6 (looking year 2000-2003) quattro seems like a decent candidate. Although the US ratings are 2000 pounds towing, I have read of people towing more - and the European ratings are 1,500 Kg (around 3000 pounds). I know the boat does not weigh more than 3000 for sure, I think its very close to 2,000 pounds. Does anyone have any experience towing with this car? The boat is a 95 17' sunbird stinger fiberglass bowrider with a 4 cyl I/O..

A: I'd think you would be fine, just make sure to get the V6 as you dont want to but that kind of load on a turbo too many times.

Q: What is better Audi A6 Quattro or A6 S-Line ?
and Why ?

A: Audi A6 Quattro is always better

Q: Oil change for a 1998 Audi A6 Quattro 2.8L?
I have synthetic oil in the car right now, I want to be able to use the kind of oil that only requires you to change it every 5,000 miles. What would you recommend?

A: If you are referring to the type of oil that has become popular in Europe ("long life" or "extended drain), where VW and BMW and so forth have developed an oil that lubricates longer, etc. AMSoil produces a synthetic hybrid motor oil for Audi makes that is supposed to have a 5,000 oil change interval...Im not sure what exactly which types of Audi that the oil is intended for, but I'd look into AMSoil products

Q: Tune up suggestions for 2002 Audi a6 Quattro 3.0 with 118k Automatic w/ Tiptronic?
I just want some suggestions for a good tune up before i travel to Los Angeles from Chicago and then back home... I was thinkin Oil, Coolant, Spark Plugs, and transmission fluid change. the tires are new... I would appreciate all suggestions thank you

A: Yea that is a good list....but before all of that, you need to make sure that you are completely caught up with your scheduled maintenance! -change the oil/ filter -have ALL your fluids checked -make sure your tires have decent tread and their not about to shred (you can do this by placing a penny between the treads (Lincoln's head facing downward), and if you can see all of Lincoln's face, then it may be time to replace your tires) -make sure your battery is good to go.... also, most people overlook this, but you need to make sure your tire pressure is at the correct level (check the inside of the gas lid for the correct pressures)... Fun facts about tire pressure: -Proper tire pressure = savings of 5 cents per gallon in gas -Under inflated tires cause heat to build up which could possibly lead to a fatal blowout (not good on the highway!) -Tire pressure is the single greatest cause of tire damage and failure
